Kate is a Los Angeles native who is deeply steeped in the LA mixology scene and has earned herself tremendous credibility among her peers. Her dynamic effervescent personality mixed with her serious bar-smarts make her the obvious personality to represent Pink Pigeon Rum; a hand crafted complex rum that is easy to drink and embodies Peace, Freedom, and Harmony. Pink Pigeon and Kate embrace living-for-today, self-expression with style, and knowing that whether it’s friends, environment, or ingredients having fun and living well is all about the right mix.
Kate began working as a bartender in some “less than glamorous” LA watering holes before the So Cal Mixology scene was established. It was through catering to the regulars at these dives that Kate learned the meaning of how to be a real, no frills bartender. Later, while working with David Rosoff at Mozza, Kate found she had quite a sophisticated palate and a great sensitivity to taste. It was this discovery that led her to The Doheny where she met one of her mentors, Aidan Demarest, who taught her the essentials to running a bar. She first learned the art of cocktail making from Vincenzo Marianella, Marcos Tellos, and Eric Alperin, the bartenders who started LA’s cocktail revolution. Then while training at The Tar Pit with Audrey Saunders, Chad Solomon and Christy Pope she became driven and excited to drink in the knowledge shared with her by these industry leaders. Chad Solomon had a profound influence on Kate’s education and in guiding her sheer passion for the craft. He remains a close friend and an endless source of inspiration. Kate captured the attention of Julian Cox, who hand selected her to work with him on the cocktail programs for acclaimed LA locales - Playa and then Sotto, Cafe Formosa and The Spare Room. Kate’s fresh face on the scene is garnering national attention because of her true passion for the craft as well as for her no-nonsense, fun-loving approach to bartending.
