Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka comes to us from Wadmalaw Island off the coast of South Carolina and close to Charleston. In homage to its Southern roots, it combines tea grown on a plantation off the coast of Charleston with Louisiana can sugar to produce real sweet tea that is infused into a quadruple distilled vodka.
The Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka has a lovely light amber color with brown highlights and smells like sweet tea on the nose (almost identical to the real thing but, as a Northerner, I am no sweet tea expert). On the palate, the spirit has a soft, viscous mouth feel with a vibrant sweet tea flavor.
I first came across Firefly Sweet Tea on a vacation to Charleston (we loved Charleston and would highly recommend a visit if you get the chance) where the locals were serving it in a number of concoctions. My favorite was with lemonade (almost like an alcoholic Arnold Palmer) as a substitute for Jack Daniels in Lynchburg Lemonade (a Charleston Lemonade perhaps).
