Diageo’s small batch, Bulleit Bourbon recently released it’s newest expression, Bulleit 10, a 10 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. At a recent event, Founder Tom Bulliet, told the crowd how was able to a 10 year in the Kentucky heat. Using the same distilliate as their classic Frontier Whiskey, Mr. Bulliet hand selects barrels starting at year one, three and six to go towards the 10. Knowing which barrels can withstand the extra years of aging, comes from experience. Just the way it is.
Appearance: Clear, medium amber with viscus legs.
Nose: Clean, medium intensity of corn cereal, oak, notes of dried fig, apricots, clove, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg.
Palate: Smooth alcohol with a touch of controlled heat. A pronounced intensity of the flavors found on the nose. Medium plus length with a smooth finish of oak notes.
Rating: Very Good. The best of classic Bulliet with increased smoothness and oak notes acheived thru increased time in barrel. Sip neat or in a cocktail.
Bulliet 10 is bottled at 91.2 proof and retails nation wide for a suggested $45.
