Put the Lime in Tea Coconut

post icon

This month’s Mixology Monday is hosted by the Pegu Blog. The theme is limes!

Limes are an essential for a well-stocked bar.  When I first saw the theme, I couldn’t get the “Put the Lime in the Coconut” song out of my head … so I incorporated both lime and coconut into this refreshing drink. Since today is also National Punch Day, I created a punch-like recipe. I had green tea syrup already prepared, so … Read more

Red Rooster Sour

post icon

The name Red Rooster is a play on words referencing the savoriness of the cocktail, since the recipe idea came from the Mexican chunky-style salsa pico de gallo, which means rooster’s beak. This cocktail was created for and built around the flavor profile of Fortaleza Tequila, whose blanco is incredibly herbaceous and vegetal. The rooster is also a big part of the Sauza family’s history and family crest. Guillermo Sauza is the sole owner … Read more

Honey Bourbon Cocktail Cherries

post icon

This cocktail cherry recipe will take you about 15 minutes … and I promise you’ll like them better than those radioactive-looking “maraschino” cherries most bars and grocery stores stock. (I gave maraschino the sarcastic quotation mark treatment because the neon-red ones that are most common don’t even use maraschino liqueur or Marasca cherries, just a lot of sugar.)

Aside from garnishing cocktails like Manhattans with these, you can also use them as a dessert topping … Read more

Tequila Avión Review

post icon

We recently had the pleasure to taste Tequila Avión, a new brand produced of Blue Weber Agave found in the highest regions of Jalisco, Mexico. The brand, launched in July, by the founder of MarquisJet, is a labor of love. Not a product of Entourage, the HBO series, where Avión has been featured this season. The folks at Avión met an Entourage producer and the rest is history. It was cool to see Mark Cuban … Read more

The Whiskey Sour 101
