Spike Lee Did The Right Thing!
Couldn’t help myself, it was way to easy to start of this post with a compliment referring to one of Spike’s best movies. Representin’ Drink of the Week I was able to attend Spike Lee’s Limited Edition Absolut Brooklyn Vodka release party and let me start off by saying, as a newcomer to New York, this event was spectacular. Located in Dumbo Brooklyn, Spike couldn’t have chosen a better spot to release his vodka to the natives. Knowing also Absolut Brooklyn was created as part of a charity campaign to donate to Habitat for Humanity to create affordable homes in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood made sipping just a little bit sweeter. Staying true to Brooklyn this stylish bottle showcases the iconic Brooklyn brownstone stoop with a little added flare by adding the ever present ball cap and glasses worn by Spike to the Absolut seal.
Beautiful people, hot spot, music you couldn’t help but shake your hips to and the drinks. THE DRINKS! YUM! A perfect for hot New York summers mixer Absolut Brooklyn is a “just right” blend of apple and ginger. Drink it with soda water, or mixed it up with Absolut recommended cocktails, or try it straight up. I can vouch all of them are delicious. Looking around at all the folks sipping, I’d say I wasn’t alone in my opinion. With well known NYC dj DJ Spinna at the tables, Lemon Anderson on the mic spitting rhymes and Spike Lee in all his Spikedom, the night turned into a melting pot of pure Brooklyn with a little added spice of Sweden.
Added excitement to the party and my personal favorite – PHOTOBOOTH. Yes, this is how you know a good time is to be had, a photobooth in attendance. Seeing all the amazing photos of partygoers broadcast on the cathedral walls of the venue gave everyone the chance to be a celebrity for more than just 15 seconds. Also knowing I was in the same vicinity as Spike Lee, Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Crew, and cast members of The Wire let me know I wasn’t the only person loving Brooklyn that night.
So all in all I ABSOLUTELY love the the freshness of Brooklyn and Absolut Brooklyn Vodka. What can I say, “He Got Game”. Alright, alright, I’ll stop, but I couldn’t help myself again
